The Making of Successful Female Family-Enterprise Leaders
Based on interviews with 46 female family firm successors from 13 countries around the globe, we distill patterns of how the female successors were raised, how their career paths looked like, what challenges they faced during succession, and how they overcame them. In particular, we identify seven important traits of successful female family firm successors: competence, consistency, humour, humility, resilience, strong and agile conflict-solving skills, and admitting outside help. We also discuss how culture affects female family firm successors.
